The Basic Types Of Lighting Fixtures And When To Use Them

No home is devoid of all kinds of lighting units because of their great importance in function and aesthetics, so you must choose your home lighting units carefully.
You cannot do this without learning about the different types and uses of each one.

Chandeliers
One of the most common lighting products, as it hangs from the ceiling to give an aesthetic appearance, as well as to provide enough light to cover the size of the room it is hanging in.

Pendants
Pendants are also common like the chandeliers, but most of them are smaller in size and different in shape, and are suspended from the ceiling through chains or a metal rod. Pendants also provide downward lighting, and the pendants are often located above a table or in the center of the kitchen ceiling.

Spotlights
Spotlights are installed in the ceiling so that the lamp body is hidden in the ceiling and only its surface is visible, unlike the chandeliers and pendants hanging from the ceiling, which can be seen easily.
Spotlights are warmer and thinner because they are in the same level with the ceiling, but they require a space four to eight inches above the ceiling for installation.

Track lights
Track lighting is a fixture attached to a track that is fixed to the ceiling or suspended from the ceiling, depending on the installation. It has several vertices that can be moved along the path and reoriented to focus in different directions. These features make it easy to adjust and reposition the lighting.
Track lighting is ideal for kitchens or living rooms.

Wall Lamps
Wall Lamps are one of the most important types of lighting, because they are often installed at eye level in most rooms. They can either be up or down lights, providing general lighting and focused lighting for a specific task like reading, depending on the installation, but they are rarely strong enough to provide enough lighting alone to illuminate a large area. They are often found on either side of a chandelier or bed for additional lighting.

Table Lamps
Table Lamps are widely used as task lamps because they are flexible and can be placed in different locations as needed (such as by a comfortable reading chair or above a work desk). They usually provide downward light, illuminating the surface directly below it rather than providing general lighting.

Floor Lamps
The Floor lamp’s function is very similar to that of the table lamps, as the floor lamps are classified as a type of task illumination. It can be directed and projected to a specific place to carry out a specific task like reading, for example, and placed on the ground directly.
